BNP Joint Secretary General Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anee has urged everyone to rise above divisions and work together to build a peaceful and crime-free society.
Speaking at the closing and prize distribution ceremony of a Hamd, Naat, and Gojol competition held at Lakshmipur Town Hall on Saturday, Annie said, “For the last 17 years, we have been trapped in a vicious circle. To build a better society, we must abandon terrorism, drugs, and all forms of wrongdoing, and unite for positive change.”
He praised social organization Vanguard for engaging school, college, and madrasa students in cultural and social awareness programs, saying such initiatives could help bring about social reform.
Anee expressed concern over the younger generation’s growing drug addiction, describing it as a major threat to the nation’s social fabric. “Our society is in trauma. If we want to be free from this situation, a social movement is essential — and Vanguard is lighting that path,” he said.
The event was presided over by Vanguard founder Nesar Uddin, with Dhaka University Treasurer Prof. Dr. M. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury attending as chief guest.
Among others, Lakshmipur Government College Principal Prof. Manjurur Rahman, Maulana Ahmed Abu Taher, and local BNP leaders Sahab Uddin Sabuj, Adv. Hasibur Rahman, Syed Rashidul Hasan Lincoln, and Hasan Mahmud Ibrahim were present.
