Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) VP Sadiq Kayem said, we are uncompromising on the issue of the country's independence and sovereignty. We got an independent land through the great liberation war. If we want to do politics in Bangladesh, we have to do politics while preserving Bangladesh. He said these things in response to questions from journalists on Sunday (December 14) on the occasion of Martyred Intellectuals' Day.

Sadiq Kayem said, intellectuals are the best children of this nation. They have always shown the nation the right path. The freedom-seeking students and people of Bangladesh took to the streets based on the guidance given by intellectuals during the great liberation war.

He also said, the Pakistani occupying forces tried to stop the country's independence by killing our intellectuals. But that independence did not stop. We have achieved an independent land.

DUCSU VP said, the way our intellectuals dreamed of independence and freedom, the country's intellectuals were supposed to maintain that legacy later. But we have seen that some intellectuals have played a role in achieving the goals of fascism. They have helped the murderer Hasina in activities like disappearances, murders and mirror houses.

He said, "We expect the intellectuals to uphold the soil and people of the country, uphold the integrity of the country and take a stand for justice."
