Acting President Hafiz Uddin Ahmed begins his first day in office today Sunday July 26, with a busy schedule honoring national leaders before assuming his official duties at Bangabhaban.
At 11:00 am the Acting President will pay tribute to the martyrs of the 1971 Liberation War by laying a wreath at the National Martyrs' Memorial in Savar. Following this at 12:30 pm he will visit Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in the capital to pay his respects at the resting places of former President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia.
In the afternoon Hafiz Uddin Ahmed will arrive at Bangabhaban to officially commence his administrative duties.
Simultaneously a formal transition of residence is underway. Outgoing President Md. Shahabuddin is scheduled to vacate Bangabhaban by noon today. He will relocate to his private residence in Gulshan where all necessary preparations have been completed.
