Dengue Surge Expected in July-August: Health Minister

Dengue infections could surge during July and August, Health Minister Sardar Sakhawat Hossain Bakul warned on Thursday (July 2). Speaking at Dhaka Medical College, he assured the public that the Health Ministry and the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) are fully prepared to handle any potential outbreak.

To ensure rapid diagnosis, the government has distributed NS1 dengue test kits to district, upazila, and local police station levels. Additionally, dedicated hospital facilities in Dhaka and other major cities are on standby, ready to activate immediately if patient numbers increase.

The minister urged citizens across all levels of society—from union councils to mosque imams—to maintain clean surroundings to destroy Aedes mosquito breeding grounds and curb the spread of the disease.
