


A mild earthquake was felt in the Baipayl area of Ashulia, on the outskirts of Savar upazila of Dhaka, on Saturday morning, coming just one day after a powerful and deadly earthquake shook the country.
The tremor, which was localized and relatively minor, was recorded by the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) at 10:36:12 am today. Magnitude: 3.3 on the Richter scale. Epicentre: Baipayl, Ashulia. Source: Nizamuddin Ahmed, Duty Officer at the BMD.
This mild event follows a much stronger earthquake that struck Dhaka and several parts of the country on Friday morning (November 21, 2025) at 10:38 am. BMD initially reported a magnitude of 5.7, with the US Geological Survey (USGS) reporting 5.7. Madhabdi, Narsingdi (according to BMD).
The powerful quake on Friday resulted in a tragic loss of life, with reports indicating at least 8 to 10 people dead and hundreds injured across the affected areas, including Dhaka, Narsingdi, and Gazipur.
Fatalities were primarily caused by falling debris, collapsed building parts (such as railings and cornices), and panic-induced stampedes, particularly among garment workers in Gazipur.
