Italy Offers Support to US and Israel Against Iran, Says Trump

US President Donald Trump praised Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, saying Italy is ready to support the United States and Israel in a potential conflict with Iran. The Guardian reported this on Sunday (March 8), citing Italy’s Corriere della Sera.

In a telephone interview with Corriere della Sera on Saturday, Trump called Meloni a “great leader” and said, “Italy is doing everything it can to help the United States.” He added, “I love Italy. She is a wonderful leader and my friend.”

Earlier, Meloni announced plans to send air defense equipment to Gulf countries to protect against a possible Iranian air attack.

Additionally, an Italian navy spokesman confirmed that an Italian ship is preparing to sail for Cyprus as part of a European mission to strengthen security following recent Iranian attacks.
