Gunmen opened fire targeting Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff in Mumbai on Sunday evening, October 18, but he was not hit by any bullets, Indian police said.
The attack targeted the 36-year-old actor as he was leaving a football club in Mumbai’s Juhu area in a car.
Videos published by several media outlets showed at least two gunmen firing multiple shots at close range towards the front passenger seat of a vehicle. The car was moving slowly past a crowd at the time.
The incident has renewed concerns about the security of high-profile figures in India, where targeted attacks in recent years have left several people dead or injured.
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said, “This attempt to intimidate people will not be tolerated under any circumstances, and we will put an end to this hooliganism.” Mumbai is a city in Maharashtra.
Shinde met Shroff after the shooting on Sunday evening. He said both the actor and his mother were left “terrified” by the attack.
Police said two people were injured in the shooting. According to local media reports, Shroff’s driver was among those hurt.
The incident is the latest in a series of attacks targeting prominent figures in India in recent years.
In 2024, Indian police arrested two members of a criminal gang over their alleged involvement in a shooting at Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s home.
That same year, influential Indian politician Baba Siddique was shot dead in Mumbai.
Shroff made his acting debut in 2014 with the romantic film Heropanti and has since appeared in several films.
He is also a football enthusiast and plays for professional football club Mumbai FC.
