The High Court has issued a rule questioning why female morgue attendants (doms) should not be appointed to conduct autopsies on the bodies of deceased women.
On Sunday, a High Court division bench consisting of Justice Fahmida Quader and Justice Md Ashif Hasan passed the order after hearing a public interest writ petition. Supreme Court lawyer Md Monir Uddin, who filed the petition on July 13, also represented the plea in court.
According to Monir, the court has ordered the relevant respondents to reply to the rule within the next two weeks.
