Former Selina Hayat Ivy, ex-mayor of Narayanganj City Corporation, has been shown arrested in another murder case shortly after securing bail in five cases from the High Court.
Police said she was shown arrested in a case filed with Siddhirganj Police Station over the killing of interior mechanic Selim Mandal during the anti-discrimination student movement. The case number is 41.
Additional Superintendent of Police (Narayanganj) Tarek Al Mehedi confirmed the development.
On Thursday (February 26), a High Court bench comprising Justice KM Zahid Sarwar and Justice Sheikh Abu Taher granted Ivy bail in five separate cases.
However, before her release process began, police sought court permission to show her arrested in the Siddhirganj case. The court approved the plea.
With the new case, the total number of cases filed against Ivy has risen to 11.
She had earlier secured bail in four murder cases — including those over the deaths of bus driver Abul Hossain Miji, Abdur Rahman, Md. Yasin and Parvez — filed with Fatullah Police Station, as well as in cases over assault on police and obstruction of government work filed with Sadar Model Police Station.
Although she received bail in those five cases, the new Siddhirganj case has stalled her release. Five other murder cases against her are awaiting hearing in the Appellate Division.
Ivy was arrested on May 9, 2025, from her ancestral home “Chunka Kutir” in Deobhog area of Narayanganj. She has remained in jail since, facing multiple cases.
