

The Nalcity Upazila administration has pledged government assistance to a family whose home was completely destroyed in a devastating fire in Baishakhia village of Mollarhat Union.
Acting Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Rizvi Ahmed Sabuj visited the affected family on Tuesday morning, inspected the damage, and spoke with family members about their immediate needs.
During the visit, the acting UNO said the family would receive government assistance in accordance with existing disaster relief policies. He also instructed the relevant officials to take the necessary steps to ensure support is provided promptly.
Local BNP Mollarhat Union President Md. Abdus Salam, community leaders, public representatives, and local residents were also present during the visit.
According to local sources, the fire broke out at around 12:00 a.m. on June 29 at the home of Faruk Hawlader, located near Baishakhia Government Primary School. Residents tried for an extended period to contain the blaze before firefighters arrived.
A unit from the Nalcity Fire Service later brought the fire under control. However, by the time firefighters reached the scene, the house had already been completely destroyed.
The fire burned household furniture, essential belongings, and cash, causing significant financial losses to the family.
Residents welcomed the prompt response from the local administration and called for the quick delivery of government assistance. They also urged financially capable members of the community to support the affected family.
