A 50-year-old woman died on Monday morning after falling ill while returning from a filling station in the intense heat.
The deceased, Lovely Begum, was the wife of Dawood Molya from Auria village. She was a farmer and housewife.
Local sources said Lovely went to the Sardar Filling Station in Machimdia around 8:00 am to purchase diesel for irrigating her Boro paddy field. After standing in line during the scorching heat, she began her journey home with three liters of fuel.
She collapsed on the road near Machimdia. Eyewitnesses rescued her and rushed her to Narail District Hospital by van. Doctors pronounced her dead shortly after arrival.
"My sister went to the pump early in the morning to get diesel for our crops," said the deceased's brother, Nazmul Islam. "The intense heat became unbearable for her."
Dr. Lipika Rani Biswas, the medical officer at the Narail District Hospital emergency department, confirmed the death. She stated that the woman was brought to the hospital in critical condition and passed away during initial medical assessments.
