Protest Erupts in Nalchiti Following Attempted Assassination of Inquilab Mancha Spokesperson Osman Hadi

A protest procession, rally, and prayer ceremony were held in Nalchiti, Jhalakathi, the native area of Inquilab Mancha spokesperson Osman Hadi, condemning the recent assassination attempt against him.

The event saw participation from various religious and civil society groups. Islami Andolan Bangladesh, Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh, students, the general public, and civil society leaders. The protest was held on Friday (December 12) after the Isha prayers. The procession began at the bus stand in Nalchiti city, traversed the city's alleys, and concluded at the same location with a rally and prayer.

Leaders from various organizations addressed the rally, including Maulana Md. Shah Jalal (President, Islami Andolan Bangladesh Nalchiti Upazila), Maulana Shafiqul Islam (President, Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh Nalchiti Upazila), Maulana Hanzala Nomani (General Secretary), Maulana Imtiaz Khan (Municipal Member Secretary), Maulana Mainul Islam, Maulana Abdul Quddus (Advisor, Islami Andolan Bangladesh), and Teacher Abdur Rahim. Osman Hadi is the youngest son of the late Maulana Abdul Hadi from Munshi Bari of Harikhali village in Nalchiti upazila of Jhalakathi. His father was the former vice-principal of Nalchiti Islamia Fazil Madrasa. His family is deeply rooted in religious and educational activities, with his elder brother being an Imam and Khatib and his sisters married to madrasa superintendents and teachers.

He studied at his father's madrasa and the Nesarabad Kamil Madrasa before earning his Honors and Master's degrees from Dhaka University. He is noted for his talent and public speaking skills since childhood.

As the spokesperson for the Inquilab Mancha, Osman Hadi’s activities related to the 2024 movement to overthrow the government brought him widespread discussion and criticism, making him a familiar figure across the country in a short time. He currently lives in Rampura, Dhaka, with his elderly mother and one-year-old son.
