A sudden power outage disrupted electricity supply across large parts of eastern Dhaka and some areas of Chattogram at 12:43 pm on Tuesday, October 27.
Among the affected areas in Dhaka were Bhulta, Haripur, Siddhirganj, Gulshan, Rampura, Ullan and Motijheel. The specific technical cause of the disruption was not immediately known.
Power Grid Bangladesh PLC, the operator of the national power grid, said its engineers were working to restore electricity. Power reconnection was already underway in phases across different areas, the company said.
The company also said the country's national electricity grid remained under the full control of the National Load Despatch Centre (NLDC).
Despite the sudden disruption, electricity supply remained operational and normal in other areas, including the northern region of the country, according to Power Grid Bangladesh.
The company did not immediately provide a timeline for the complete restoration of electricity supply.
