


Two powerhouse female candidates from the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) are set for a major showdown in the upcoming 13th National Parliament election in Faridpur. Both candidates carry the legacy of their prominent fathers into the high-stakes race for two key constituencies.
Faridpur-2: Shama Obaid Shama Obaid, the BNP’s Central Organizing Secretary, is contesting the Faridpur-2 seat with the Sheaf of Paddy symbol. The daughter of the late BNP Secretary General KM Obaidur Rahman, she addressed a massive crowd at Saltha Upazila on Monday afternoon.
She urged supporters to guard polling stations "like a protective amulet" on February 12. Shama cautioned workers to remain calm and vigilant against any attempts at vote tampering in the final 48 hours.
Faridpur Sadar (Faridpur-3): Nayab Yusuf Simultaneously, Chowdhury Nayab Yusuf announced her election manifesto at Moyez Uddin School grounds. She is the daughter of the late Chowdhury Kamal Ibne Yusuf, a former BNP Vice President and multi-term minister.
Nayab appealed to voters to support her just as they supported her father. She promised to complete his unfinished development projects. Her manifesto highlights a strong stance against corruption, extortion, and the drug trade to protect the local youth.
Following her speech, Nayab led a massive roadshow through the major streets of Faridpur city, drawing thousands of supporters.
