To protest all forms of violence against women the rights organization Women Against Violence Everywhere (WAVE) organized a human chain and discussion meeting at the Monohardi upazila headquarters on July 30.
Presided over by WAVE Joint Coordinator Nargis Akter, the midday event drew local citizens and activists calling for immediate action against child marriage sexual harassment, and domestic abuse.
During the human chain participants stressed that eradicating gender-based violence requires a coordinated effort from families communities, and the state. Speakers emphasized the need for widespread public awareness and the strict enforcement of existing laws to guarantee women’s safety and equal rights.
At the subsequent discussion community leaders highlighted that violence against women hinders not just individual victims but the socio-economic progress of the entire nation. Organizers concluded the event with a strong call to action urging citizens to break their silence and unite against all gender-based crimes.
