Info Minister Assures Newspaper Workers on 10th Wage Board

A delegation of Bangladesh Newspaper Employees Federation and Bangladesh Federal Union of Newspaper Press Workers paid a courtesy call on Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapan at the ministry.

During the meeting on Monday (April 27), the leaders of the two organizations presented various demands on behalf of the organizations to the Information Minister.

The delegation demanded the Information Minister to implement the Ninth Wage Board properly as well as announce the Tenth Wage Board, form a welfare trust for newspaper employees and press workers, formulate newspaper industry policies, pay outstanding dues and ensure proper implementation of labor laws in the newspaper industry.

The Information Minister listened carefully to their demands and assured to resolve the problem through discussions with all concerned.

Among others, Bangladesh Newspaper Employees Federation President Md. Matiur Rahman Talukder, Secretary General Md. Khairul Islam, and Bangladesh Federal Union of Newspaper Press Workers President Md. Alamgir Hossain Khan and Secretary General Md. Mostaq Ahmed were present at the meeting.
