The upazila administration seized 4,800 liters of illegally stored diesel during a raid in the Kazirhat area of Bera, Pabna. Authorities fined two business owners a total of Tk 1 lakh and organized an open-market sale of the fuel at government-fixed rates.
Acting on a tip-off from the National Security Intelligence (NSI), the raid was conducted on Sunday night at the shops of Abdul Quddus and Abdus Salam in Kazirhat Bazar. Officials recovered 1,200 liters of diesel from Salam’s premises and 3,600 liters from Quddus’s establishment.
Bera Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Ronald Chakma presided over the operation, imposing a fine of Tk 50,000 on each owner for stockpiling fuel without authorization. The seized diesel was sold to the public at official prices starting Monday morning.
