


Modern agricultural equipment was distributed among farmers in the remote char areas of Nageshwari, Kurigram, on Thursday. The distribution ceremony took place at the Upazila Parishad Auditorium, organized by the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE).
The initiative is part of the "Modern Agricultural Technology Extension Project in the Char Area of Bangladesh (1st Revised)" for the 2025-26 fiscal year. During the event, Low Lift Pump (LLP) sets were handed over to 33 farmer groups across the upazila to enhance irrigation and crop production.
The program was chaired by Acting Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Badruzzaman Rishad, with Md. Anwarul Islam, MP for Kurigram-1, attending as the special guest. Other notable attendees included Ziaur Rahman, Project Director of the char extension project; Mehedi Hasan, Additional Deputy Director of Khamarbari Kurigram; and Shahriar Hossain, Upazila Agriculture Officer. Local political representatives, including Upazila BNP Convener Golam Rasul Raja and Upazila Jamaat Acting Amir Afzal Hossain, were also present.
Speakers at the event emphasized that providing modern machinery to char farmers will reduce production costs and play a vital role in ensuring food security for the region.
