A theft has occurred at the village home of Inqilab Manch convener Sharif Osman Hadi in Jhalakathi, Dhaka.
The incident took place in the Khasmahal area of the city on Friday night, said Ariful Alam, OC of Nalchiti Police Station.
Osman Hadi's cousin Sirajul Islam said, "The thief broke the window and entered the house when no one was there. We are not sure how much goods he took."
Ariful Alam, OC of Nalchiti Police Station, said, "We came to the spot after receiving the news. Our investigation is underway."
Osman Hadi was shot in front of the Bijoynagar water tank in the capital at around 2:15 pm on Friday. He was heading towards Suhrawardy Udyan in a battery rickshaw for lunch with his teammates after a campaign at a mosque in Motijheel.
While he was in a moving rickshaw, the assailant sitting on the back of a motorcycle fired a bullet at him, which hit him in the head.
After being shot, Hadi was first taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. After a brain surgery there, he was sent to Evercare Hospital in Bashundhara Residential Area with his skull removed. He is currently undergoing treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) there. Doctors said that Hadi's life is in critical condition.
Meanwhile, upon hearing the news of his shooting, his family members left for Dhaka that afternoon.
