Similar to the rest of the nation, World Diabetes Day was observed in Lakshmipur under the theme 'Create Diabetes Awareness in the Workplace'.
On this occasion, a rally and a discussion meeting took place on Friday morning (November 14) organized by Lakshmipur Diabetic Hospital. Former MP from the Lakshmipur-3 constituency, Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Aniee, attended as the chief guest.
The event was presided over by Mohiuddin Chowdhury Kamru, President of the Lakshmipur Diabetic Association, with Humayun Kabir Jewel serving as the moderator. Special guests included Zia Uddin Chowdhury Arif, General Secretary of the Lakshmipur Diabetic Association, and Main Uddin Chowdhury Riaz, General Secretary of the Red Crescent Society Lakshmipur District Branch.
The speakers highlighted that diabetes has become a silent epidemic. Factors such as irregular lifestyles, poor eating habits, obesity, and insufficient physical activity are the primary contributors to the rise in diabetes cases. They emphasized that awareness, discipline, and lifestyle modifications can help manage this serious disease.
Subsequently, a rally commenced from the grounds of Lakshmipur Diabetic Hospital, traversing various sections of the Lakshmipur-Ramgati road. Over a hundred participants, including doctors knowledgeable about diabetes, took part in the event.
