BNP Joint Secretary General Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie initiated the construction of a new house for Jubo Dal leader Abdul Mannan Chhuttu, who has been suffering from severe injuries allegedly sustained during political violence nine years ago.
The project was launched on Wednesday afternoon, November 12, following directives from BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman. Chhuttu, a resident of Muslimabad village in Sadar upazila, was reportedly brutally assaulted by Awami League associates, including leader Yasin Mia, during a BNP rally in Narayanganj. The assault involved 42 attacks, resulting in the loss of a finger and severed veins in his right leg, leaving visible scars across his body.
Chandraganj Thana BNP President M Bellal Hossain confirmed that Tarique Rahman learned of Chhuttu's financial inability to seek proper medical care through media reports. Annie Chowdhury was subsequently instructed to ensure Chhuttu received improved treatment in Dhaka and to oversee the demolition of his old residence to construct a new building.
Today, construction funds were officially delivered to Chhuttu's family, marking the beginning of the project. A number of local BNP, Jubo Dal, Krishak Dal, and Chhatra Dal leaders were present to mark the occasion.
