Jhalakathi Cancels Previous Appointments, Names 25 Government Law Officers

The government has cancelled all previous appointments to the posts of Government Pleader (GP), Public Prosecutor (PP), Additional Public Prosecutor (Additional PP), Assistant Government Pleader (AGP) and Assistant Public Prosecutor (APP) in Jhalakathi and appointed 25 lawyers as new government law officers.

Under the new appointments, Mahabub Alam Kabir has been appointed Government Pleader (GP) at the Jhalakathi District and Sessions Judge’s Court, while Advocate Maheb Hossain has been reappointed as Public Prosecutor (PP) at the Sessions Judge’s Court.

Md. Akkas Sikdar has been appointed Public Prosecutor at the Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal, while Md. Faisal Khan has been appointed Public Prosecutor at the Child Violence Prevention Tribunal.

Five lawyers have been appointed as Additional Public Prosecutors at the Sessions Judge’s Court. They are Md. Humayun Kabir Babul, Md. Sohel Akon, Khan Shahidul Islam, Mobasher Ali Bhuiyan and Munsi Rezaul Haque Azim.

The newly appointed Assistant Government Pleaders (AGPs) are:

  • AK Hanif
  • Md. Ahsan Khan
  • Sakina Alam Liza
  • Md. Shah Alam Mallik
  • Zahirul Haque Khokon
  • Morsheda Begum

The Assistant Public Prosecutors (APPs) are:

  • Md. Nur Hossain
  • Anisur Rahman Khan
  • SM Jasim Uddin
  • Bahauddin Hasan Oli
  • Shamim Akon
  • Sakina Alam Liza
  • Mizanur Rahman Mubin
  • Shakhawat Hossain Raju
  • Mushfiqur Rahman Babu
  • Firoz Hossain
  • Umme Salma

According to the appointment order, all previously appointed government law officers have been removed, and the newly appointed lawyers have been assigned responsibility for conducting cases and handling legal proceedings on behalf of the government.

The appointments were announced through a letter signed on Thursday, August 27, by Md. Faruk Hossain, Senior Assistant Secretary of the GP-PP Branch under the Solicitor Wing of the Law and Justice Division of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs.

The order states that, until further instructions, the newly appointed lawyers will represent the government at the Jhalakathi District and Sessions Judge’s Court and subordinate courts, Chief Judicial Magistrate’s Court, Executive Magistrate’s Courts, Child Violence Prevention Tribunal, and Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal.

The appointments are expected to take effect immediately, with the newly designated law officers responsible for representing the government in relevant cases and legal proceedings.
