


Defending champions Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited secured their first victory in the Bangladesh Football League (BFL) by defeating their arch-rivals Abahani Limited Dhaka with an exciting 3-2 scoreline. The match took place today (Monday) at the Shaheed Dhirendranath Datta Stadium in Cumilla. This game marked the league's return after a thirty-three-day hiatus that began after the second round on October 20.
Mohammedan took a healthy lead in the first half. Forward Mohammad Rahim Uddin scored the opening goal in the 20th minute, and Ghanaian defender Eli Keke Emmanuel doubled the lead in the 32nd minute.
Mohammedan further widened the margin early in the second half when Ghanaian forward Samuel Boateng scored the third goal in the 58th minute, making the score 3-0.
Abahani staged a brilliant comeback attempt, starting with midfielder Papon Sing pulling one back in the 73rd minute. Promising midfielder Sheikh Morsalin then further reduced the margin by scoring Abahani's second goal in the 78th minute. Despite the late rally, Abahani could not find the equalizer, and Mohammedan clinched the 3-2 victory.
Abahani Limited will face Police Football Club on November 28. Mohammedan Sporting Club will take on Fakirerpool Young Men’s Club on November 29.
