Tasneem Zara Gets ‘Football’ Symbol, Starts Campaign Tomorrow

Tasneem Zara, a prominent independent candidate for the Dhaka-9 constituency, has been officially allotted the "Football" symbol for the upcoming 13th National Parliament Election.

The symbol was allocated today, Wednesday (January 21), at the Dhaka Divisional Commissioner’s office. Dhaka Divisional Commissioner Sharaf Uddin Ahmed Chowdhury, serving as the Returning Officer for the capital’s constituencies, presided over the process.

Out of the 15 parliamentary seats in Dhaka, symbol distribution for 13 constituencies was conducted today.

138 candidates are competing across these 13 seats. 10 independent candidates are in the fray from these constituencies.

Nationwide, the Election Commission (EC) has designated 119 symbols for this election, with 56 specifically reserved for independent candidates.

Tasneem Zara, formerly the senior joint member secretary of the National Citizen Party (NCP), chose to run as an independent following policy disagreements within her former party regarding election alliances.

After receiving her symbol, Zara told reporters, "Voters have been eager to know my symbol. Now that the 'Football' is confirmed, we will begin our formal campaign tomorrow (Thursday). Our platform is built on the public's demand for transparency and accountability."

Although her nomination was initially rejected during scrutiny, Zara successfully regained her candidacy through the appeal process. Election Countdown

With symbol allocation complete, the official electioneering period begins tomorrow, January 22, and will continue until 48 hours before polling.
