Family card is being launched on a trial basis before the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr, Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Abdul Awal Mintoo said.

The minister informed reporters after a meeting in this regard at the Secretariat on Thursday (February 19). The meeting was chaired by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.

The environment minister said that the issue of family card is mentioned in detail in the election manifesto. How to make it effective was discussed today. The family card will be given, it was discussed today.

When asked how many families will be given, he said that it is universal. There will be no restrictions on it. However, a committee has been formed for this - maybe it will start from the very poor, then the poor, then the middle class, and so on.

In response to the question of whether it is starting this Ramadan, the minister said that it will be launched as a pilot project before Eid. Our Prime Minister wants to start it as a pilot project, at least as a pilot project before Eid. That much I know.

The CPD has said that if the family card is not launched in the next fiscal year, it will have a negative impact on the elections. When asked about this, he said, it will be launched, there is no problem with it. This is just us figuring out the mechanism, meaning how to launch the program has been discussed.
