The Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned Indian High Commissioner Pranay Verma today (23 December) to express formal concern regarding the security of Bangladeshi diplomatic missions in India.
Foreign Secretary Md. Jashim Uddin (acting) met with the envoy to demand heightened protection for missions in New Delhi, Kolkata, and other cities following recent security lapses.
This incident marks the second time in 10 days, and at least the sixth time under the current interim government, that the Indian envoy has been called to the ministry. The discussions focused on ensuring the safety of diplomatic staff and premises amid a tense regional climate.
Dhaka emphasized that it is the host country's responsibility under international law to provide foolproof security for foreign missions.
