Chinese President Xi Jinping emphasized the mutual benefits of China-US economic relations during formal talks with US President Donald Trump in Beijing on Thursday, warning that global economic stability depends on their cooperation.
Highlighting recent progress between the two economic superpowers, Xi noted that their respective trade teams had recently secured "generally balanced and positive outcomes."
"This is good news for the people of the two countries and the world," Xi stated.
Addressing the looming threat of economic conflict, the Chinese President issued a clear warning against protectionist policies. "Facts have shown time and again that trade wars have no winner," he remarked.
Instead of confrontation, Xi advocated for diplomacy to resolve ongoing trade frictions. "Where disagreements and frictions exist, equal-footed consultation is the only right choice," he said. He concluded by urging both nations to actively sustain the positive momentum they have worked hard to build.
