A massive 39-kilogram Katla fish, weighing nearly one maund, was caught in the Padma River at Rayata Patharghat in Bheramara, Kushtia, on Saturday evening.
Local fisherman Murad and his crew were casting their nets as usual when they realized a massive catch was struggling in the water. After hauling the net ashore, they discovered the giant Katla. The fishermen noted it was the largest fish of this species they had ever caught. Word quickly spread, drawing an eager crowd to the riverbank to catch a glimpse of the rare find.
Ripon Ali, a resident of Bheramara, purchased the fish alongside a group of friends for a total of 46,800 BDT, paying 1,200 BDT per kilogram. The buyers later divided the meat among themselves. Local residents remarked that they had never witnessed such an enormous Katla caught in this section of the Padma River before.
