A 40-year-old man allegedly hacked and beat his grandmother, aunt, and a neighbor to death in a violent outburst on Monday night. The tragedy occurred in Gadadhardangi village under Aliabad Union of Faridpur Sadar.

The suspect, identified as Akash Mollah, remains at large. The victims have been identified as his grandmother, Amena Begum (75), his aunt (Fufu), Saleha Begum (55), and a neighbor, Kabul Chowdhury (49), a rickshaw puller and father of three.

According to local Union Parishad Member Razzak Sheikh, the attack took place around 10:00 PM. Akash reportedly used a kodal (hoe) to attack his family members inside their home. When neighbor Kabul Chowdhury and others rushed to help, they were also attacked. Kabul died on the spot, while two other neighbors, Reazul Islam and Arzina Begum, sustained serious injuries. Both are currently undergoing treatment at Faridpur Medical College Hospital.

Local officials described Akash as mentally unstable. Though he previously worked as a peon at the Faridpur Tuberculosis Hospital, he often missed work during bouts of mental distress. "When he was well, he behaved normally, but he would lose control of his senses at times," said UP Member Razzak Sheikh.

Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime and Ops) Md. Shamsul Azam visited the crime scene. He confirmed that the bodies have been sent to the morgue for autopsy.

"Multiple teams are working in the field to arrest the suspect," said Shahidul Islam, Officer-in-Charge of Faridpur Kotwali Police Station. "We are treating this as a priority investigation."
