


Law enforcement agencies have arrested 20 fugitives in connection with the murder of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) member DAD Abdul Motaleb in Jungle Salimpur, Chittagong. The arrests follow a series of coordinated raids across the country, with RAB-7 apprehending 13 suspects and the District Police taking 7 into custody.
According to RAB-7 Assistant Director (Media) ARM Mozaffar Hossain, the latest arrest occurred on March 27. A joint team from RAB-7 and RAB-11 (Narayanganj) captured Md. Parvez (35), the 29th accused in the case, during a raid in Noakhali’s Kabirhat area.
Other notable arrests include Md. Belal (30) from Pahartali and Saidul Islam (26) from Bayezid Bostami. Khandaker Zahid Hossain (39), apprehended in Patenga based on information from fellow accused Md. Yunus Ali Howlader (62). Aliraj Hasan (28), arrested in a joint RAB-7 and RAB-15 operation at Sugandha Point, Cox’s Bazar.
The incident dates back to January 19, when a group of armed miscreants ambushed a RAB team during a raid against terrorists in Jungle Salimpur. Four members were injured in the attack. DAD Abdul Motaleb was later declared dead at Chittagong CMH.
Following the murder, RAB-7 filed a case with Sitakunda Police Station on January 22, naming 29 individuals and citing another 150–200 unidentified suspects. All arrested individuals have been handed over to their respective police stations for further legal proceedings.
