


Various programmes were organized in Sariakandi of Bogura to celebrate International Women’s Day.
On Sunday afternoon (March 8), a colorful rally started from the Upazila Parishad premises and marched through key roads of the town. A discussion meeting was later held at the auditorium of the Sariakandi Upazila Parishad.
The meeting was moderated by IGA Trainer Mousumi Akhter Mim and recitation teacher Ratna Parveen. Khaleda Yasmin, Upazila Women’s Affairs Officer, delivered remarks highlighting the importance of women’s empowerment and equal opportunities.
Among those who addressed the discussion were Upazila Agriculture Officer Mohammad Ali Jinnah, Sariakandi Municipal BNP President Shahadat Hossain Soni, Upazila Rural Poverty Alleviation Officer Nazrul Islam, Senior Trainer of Ma Fatema (R.) Women’s Training Center Delwar Hossain, and WTC Trainer Naznin Akhter.
Several government officials also attended the programme, including Upazila Livestock Officer Dr. Mir Kawsar Hossain, Officer-in-Charge of Sariakandi Police Station A.F.M. Asaduzzaman, Upazila Engineer Tuhin Sarkar, Upazila Project Implementation Officer Rashedul Islam, and Upazila Food Controller Abu Samrat Khan.
Representatives from different organizations, including Bangladesh Rural Development Board officer Rezzakul Haider and Palli Sanchay Bank manager Selim, were also present.
Participants emphasized the need to ensure women’s rights, empowerment and equal participation in all sectors of society.
