Wife beaten to death by husband in Atgharia, Pabna

A housewife named Laili Khatun (45) died after being beaten by her husband in Atgharia upazila of Pabna. She died on the way to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital in a critical condition on Wednesday (February 18) at around 2 pm. The deceased Laili Khatun was the wife of Abdul Quddus of Kachuarampur village in Machpara union of the upazila.

According to police and local sources, a fight broke out between the husband and wife on the morning of February 17 over the installment money. At one point, Abdul Quddus beat his wife severely with a stick, a hammer, a punch and a kick. Laili Khatun was seriously injured. Later, she was admitted to the Atgharia Upazila Health Complex. His condition deteriorated there and he died at around 2 pm on Wednesday afternoon while being taken to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment.

Atgharia Officer-in-Charge (OC) Rafiqul Islam said the body has been recovered. Preparations are underway to send it to Pabna General Hospital morgue for autopsy. Legal action is under process in this incident.
