Father hacked to death for drug money in Atgharia, Pabna, son arrested

Police have arrested a son on charges of hacking his father to death for not getting drug money in Atgharia, Pabna. The tragic incident took place at around 11 am on Wednesday (February 18) in Harulpara village of Majpara union of the upazila. The deceased was Lokman Hossain (55). The accused is his son Kamrul Islam (32).

According to police and local sources, Kamrul Islam has been addicted to drugs for a long time. On the day of the incident, he had an argument with his father over drug money.

At one stage, he stabbed his father Lokman Hossain with a sharp weapon inside his house, seriously injuring him. He later died on the spot.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Atgharia Police Station Rafiqul Islam said that after receiving the information, the police quickly went to the spot and arrested the murderer, Kamrul Islam. The body of the deceased has been recovered and sent to the Pabna General Hospital morgue for autopsy. Police said further legal action is under process.
