


A human chain and protest were held in Jhalakathi on the exemplary demand of a young man named Sajal, who was arrested on suspicion of involvement in the murder of Nilufa, and his family. The family of the deceased and men and women of the area held an hour-long program in front of the local press club on Monday morning.
On the morning of January 20, police recovered the body of a middle-aged woman named Nilufa Yasmin from the ghat of the Sugandha River in the Notunchar area of the district town. The woman's earrings and nose ring were missing from the body. Blood stains were found on her nose during the autopsy. The police and the locals initially believed that the woman was killed because she had taken the earrings and nose ring.
On Sunday night, the police arrested the young man named Sajal Khan, his father Md. Babul Khan and mother Hirun Begum, on suspicion of involvement in the incident. Locals protested and formed a human chain, accusing those arrested of the murder and demanding exemplary justice for them.
