


Savar ‘Serial Killer’ Confesses to Six Murders in Seven Months. Savar– A man arrested in connection with a string of killings in Savar has confessed to murdering at least six people over the last seven months. The suspect, identified as Sabuj Sheikh (30)—who frequently used the alias "Samrat"—admitted to the crimes during a confessional statement at the Dhaka Chief Judicial Magistrate Court on Monday.
Additional Superintendent of Police (Savar Circle) Md. Asaduzzaman confirmed on Tuesday that police are currently verifying the details of the statement provided under Section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
According to police, Sabuj targeted women from various locations, taking them to secluded areas within abandoned buildings under false identities. He claimed that he would kill the women out of "rage" if he suspected they were involved with other men.
The most recent incident involved the murder of a homeless woman named Tania (alias Sonia) and an unidentified young man at the Savar Municipal Community Center. Sabuj reportedly killed the man on the second floor before murdering Tania on the ground floor. He then set fire to both bodies to conceal the evidence.
