Sariakandi Press Club Holds Prayers for Begum Khaleda Zia

The Sariakandi Press Club organized a Doa and Milad Mahfil on Friday (January 16) to pray for the soul of the recently deceased former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson, Begum Khaleda Zia.

The ceremony, held at the Press Club premises following Jumma prayers, was presided over by Press Club President Akhtaruzzaman.

Tributes to the ‘Uncompromising Leader’ Addressing the gathering as the chief guest, Sariakandi Upazila BNP President Advocate Nur Azam Babu highlighted the political legacy of the three-time Prime Minister. Speakers at the event described Begum Zia as a "rare personality" in Bangladeshi politics, praising her lifelong struggle for democracy and human rights.

"She remained steadfast in her devotion to the country’s sovereignty and never left her people, even during the most challenging times of imprisonment and illness," the speakers noted.

The event, coordinated by journalist Abdul Latif, saw participation from a wide cross-section of local leaders and journalists, including: BNP Leaders: Upazila BNP Organizing Secretary Shyamal Mahmud, Joint General Secretary Sirajul Islam Phul, and Adv. Mostafizur Rahman Bakul. Journalists: Press Club General Secretary Rafiqul Islam, former President Md. Rafiqul Islam, and National Online Press Club President Rahidur Rahman Milon. Affiliated Wings: Leaders from Jubo Dal, Chhatra Dal, Sramik Dal, and Cyber Dal were also in attendance.

The program concluded with special prayers conducted by Maulana Abul Kashem, former Principal of Sariakandi Fazil Degree Madrasa, seeking eternal peace for the departed soul and the continued prosperity of the nation.
