Argentina secured a comfortable 2-0 victory against Angola in a friendly match held in Luanda on Friday, which marked the host nation's 50th anniversary of independence.1 The win was spearheaded by captain Lionel Messi, who had a hand in both goals.

Just before halftime (43rd minute), Messi delivered a pinpoint pass from the right side of the box, which was clinically drilled into the net by Lautaro Martinez. This marked Martinez's 36th international goal.

The two stars combined again seven minutes from full-time. This time, Martinez turned provider, playing Messi into space in the box. Messi finished the move with a low strike into the far corner, bringing his international goal tally to 115.

The match was Argentina's only fixture during the international window, reportedly secured by a substantial $12 million pay-day. Angola used the fixture as preparation for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), where they are grouped with Egypt, South Africa, and Zimbabwe. Tickets for the 48,000-seater stadium were sold for $1.
