The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has announced a significant reduction in gold prices in the local market, marking a second adjustment within a week.

Effective from today, Thursday, January 1, 2026, the price of the finest quality 22-carat gold has been slashed by Tk 2,741, bringing the new price to Tk 224,182 per bhori (11.664 grams).

According to a statement issued by BAJUS on Wednesday evening, the decision follows a downward trend in the price of pure gold in the local market.

This price revision follows a previous adjustment made on December 29, reflecting the organization’s commitment to aligning domestic rates with the current market situation. New Price Breakdown (Per Bhori): 22-Carat: Tk 224,182 (Reduced by Tk 2,741), 21-Carat: Tk 214,034, 18-Carat: Tk 183,416, Traditional Gold: Tk 152,857

BAJUS reminded consumers that the final selling price will include a mandatory 5.0% government VAT and a minimum 6.0% labor charge as determined by the association. The new rates are intended to stabilize the market and provide relief to buyers following the recent price peaks.
