Police have arrested Limon Mallick (27) for the murder of his wife, Sumona Ferdousi, in Narail's Lohagara upazila. Limon allegedly killed his wife over domestic disputes regarding her TikTok use, later staging the crime scene to look like a suicide.
Lohagara Police Inspector (Investigation) Ajit Kumar confirmed that Limon was arrested in the Dighalia area on Monday (June 15) night. During initial interrogation, he confessed to the crime.
Sumona, whose family resides in Narayanganj, was Limon's second wife. According to the police, Limon—who works as a tea seller and woodcutter—claimed his wife frequently posted TikTok videos and exchanged inappropriate content with other men while he was at work. This led to ongoing marital disputes.
On Monday around 8:00 am, another argument broke out. Police report that Limon struck Sumona, causing her to fall and bleed. He then suffocated her and hung her body from the ceiling.
Attempting to cover up the murder, Limon left for work at 10:00 am. He returned shortly after 5:00 pm, opened the door, and faked a panicked reaction, screaming for help. Police responded to the scene, recovered the body, and quickly determined it was a homicide rather than a suicide.
Inspector Ajit Kumar stated that Limon detailed the events of the murder during questioning. Sumona's family in Narayanganj has been notified, and further legal proceedings are currently underway.
