The clash broke out in Singha Pratap village under Gotti union. During the violence, a land cultivation tractor-trolley and a haystack were also set on fire.

According to local and police sources, there has been a long-standing dispute over local dominance between two local influential figures, Habibur Rahman and Ibrahim Mollah.

The tension escalated on Tuesday afternoon when Babu Talukder, 22, a van driver and supporter of Ibrahim Mollah, went to the Kaulikanda bus stand area and was allegedly beaten by Habibur Rahman's men.

Upon receiving the information, police rushed to the scene and brought the situation under control.

Saltha Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Bablur Rahman Khan said, "Police quickly reached the spot and restored order. Additional police personnel have been deployed in the area, and the situation is now normal."

The OC added that no written complaint has been filed by either party yet, but legal action will be taken as soon as a formal complaint is received.
