


A mobile court has sentenced two brokers to 21 days in jail during an anti-broker drive at the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) divisional office in Chattogram.
The convicted are Md. Selim (56) and Md. Sahabuddin (60). Selim is from Khandakiya village under Hathazari Police Station, and Sahabuddin is from Gotaru village under Laksam Police Station in Cumilla district.
The drive was carried out at BRTA Chattogram Metro Circle-2 and District Circle in the Hathazari Notun Para area. It was led by Executive Magistrate of BRTA Court-12, Fahmida Mustafa.
In a separate operation on Tuesday afternoon in the Bayezid Bostami area of Chattogram city, the same mobile court fined five vehicles a total of Tk 17,000 for driving without proper documents.
Executive Magistrate Fahmida Mustafa said such operations will continue regularly to ensure discipline in transport services.
