Adv. Ahmed elected unopposed, Kizil wins secretary post

The Bangladesh Red Crescent Society’s Magura District Unit Executive Council election for 2026–2028 was held on Tuesday (March 31) with a festive atmosphere.

Voting took place from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm at the Magura District Auditorium. The results were announced shortly after voting ended.

Advocate Ahmed Hossain was elected unopposed as Vice Chairman, as he was the sole candidate for the post. Masud Hasan Khan Kizil was elected Secretary.

Ahmed Hossain has long been involved in humanitarian and social work. He previously served as Secretary and Delegate of the Magura District Red Crescent Unit. He is also a former General Secretary of Rajshahi University Central Students' Union (RACSU) and former Secretary of Magura District BNP. He currently serves as Secretary of the Magura Children and Eye Hospital.

Kizil, the newly elected Secretary, is the President of Magura Municipality BNP and is known for his involvement in social development activities.

Other elected members include Md. Ali Tarek, Sikder Manjurul Alam, Md. Farhana Parveen, Md. Sohel Reza, and Dr. Md. Masudul Haque.

Participants described the election as peaceful, with active voter turnout and strong engagement from candidates.

Local community members congratulated the newly elected leaders, expressing hope that the new committee will strengthen Red Crescent activities in disaster management, blood donation, healthcare, and social services in Magura.
