The Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) Trustee Board in Faridpur has distributed donation cheques among the families of people killed and injured in road accidents.

The cheque distribution ceremony was held on Sunday afternoon at the conference room of the Faridpur Deputy Commissioner’s office.

Assistant Director of BRTA Palash Khisa chaired the event, while Deputy Commissioner Md. Kamrul Hasan Molla attended as the chief guest.

Among others present were Additional Deputy Commissioner Mintu Biswas, Civil Surgeon Dr. Mahmudul Hasan, Vice President of the Faridpur District Minibus Owners Group Muha. Shahin Chowdhury and General Secretary of the Inter-District Workers Union Golam Azad.

Speakers at the programme said road accidents cause serious and often irreversible damage to families. They urged drivers to follow traffic laws and drive responsibly to reduce accidents.

They also noted that financial assistance cannot replace the loss of loved ones, but the support is meant to stand beside the affected families during difficult times.

BRTA officials said that from July to November 2025, the Trustee Board distributed a total of Tk1.93 crore to accident victims who applied for assistance.

Under the programme, the families of 37 people killed in road accidents each received Tk5 lakh. Two injured persons who lost limbs received Tk3 lakh each, while two other injured individuals received Tk1 lakh each as assistance.
