The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested a fugitive accused of stabbing a young man to death in the Pahartali area of Chattogram city. The suspect, 19-year-old Nazmul Huda, was apprehended in Gaibandha following a joint operation.
Nazmul, originally from Kurigram Sadar, was arrested at 11:30 PM on Friday by teams from RAB-7 (Chattogram) and RAB-13 (Rangpur) in the Palashbari Municipality area.
The incident occurred on Thursday evening near the Bitak Stech Plastic Factory. According to RAB, the victim, 26-year-old Akash, worked as a factory helper. Witness accounts suggest that a "teenage gang" of 12 to 15 individuals attempted to abduct another factory worker. When Akash intervened to rescue his colleague, the group attacked him with sharp weapons before fleeing the scene.
Local residents rushed a critically injured Akash to Chittagong Medical College Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.
Following the murder, the victim’s father, Babul, filed a case at Pahartali Police Station naming Nazmul Huda as a primary accused.
RAB-7 Assistant Director (Media) ARM Mozaffar Hossain confirmed that the suspect has been handed over to Pahartali Police Station for further legal proceedings.
