Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested three people with counterfeit notes worth Tk 113,600 in separate drives in Chittagong.

According to RAB, the arrests were made on Saturday in areas under Panchlaish and Hathazari police stations.

The arrested are Md. Achan Ullah alias Hasan, 35, from Bhedarganj in Shariatpur, Jahidul Islam alias Asif, 21, from Feni, and Hasanur Rahi, 19, also from Feni.

RAB-7 Senior Assistant Director (Media) A.R.M. Mozaffar Hossain confirmed the arrests on Sunday.

He said RAB received information that a group was trying to sell counterfeit currency in the Panchlaish area. Acting on the tip-off, a team conducted a raid in Hamzarbagh on Saturday afternoon and arrested Achan Ullah while he was trying to flee. Officers recovered fake notes worth Tk 112,750 from a shopping bag in his possession.

In another drive conducted around 10:30 pm in the Alipur Abbasiapur area under Hathazari police station, RAB arrested Jahidul Islam and Hasanur Rahi. Fake notes worth Tk 8,500 were recovered from them.

RAB said legal proceedings against the accused are underway.
