


A joint raid at the “Bhai-Bhai Lacha Semai” factory in Shekahar, Kahalu Upazila, led to a fine of 300,000 BDT. The operation was conducted by the Department of Consumer Rights Protection, the Safe Food Authority, RAB, and the district police.
During the inspection on Thursday, February 26, 2026, officials found semai dough being kneaded by foot, food stored in unhygienic conditions, and burnt oil used in production. Semai storage cages were placed next to bathrooms in unsanitary and foul-smelling conditions.
The operation was led by Md. Mehedi Hasan, Assistant Director of the Consumer Rights Department, Bogra, and Md. Rasel, Safe Food Officer, Bogra. Also present were Md. Shariful Islam, Sample Collection Assistant of the Safe Food Authority, Md. Abdul Kader, Office Assistant and Computer Typist, and Fazilatunnesa Fouzia, General Secretary of CAB, Bogra.
RAB-12 and a team from the district police provided overall security. The factory has been instructed to comply with all government regulations to ensure safe food production.
