


Police arrested six members of a robbery gang early Thursday morning in Raipur Upazila following a daring highway robbery and a subsequent high-speed chase.
Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Hossain Mohammad Raihan Kazemi confirmed the arrests during a press briefing on Thursday afternoon. The suspects were intercepted in the Basabari Bazar area of Sonapur Union while attempting to flee in a CNG-powered autorickshaw.
The robbery occurred late Wednesday night on the Basabari-Haiderganj road in Charmohona Union. A group of armed men traveling in a CNG vehicle intercepted an autorickshaw belonging to Md. Momin Mia. Threatened with sharp weapons, Momin was forced to hand over his mobile phone, cash, and clothing.
A nearby police patrol was alerted to the crime by the victim. Officers immediately gave chase, eventually cornering the gang’s vehicle.
The arrested individuals, all residents of Charbangshi Union, are Md. Nabil Hossain (22), Md. Nayan Hossain (20), Rimon Hossain (20), Md. Shakib Hossain (20), Zidan (15), Md. Rakib (20)
During the raid, police recovered the stolen items alongside a cache of country-made weapons, including knives, lock-breaking hammers, and hand cutters. The CNG-powered autorickshaw used in the crime was also seized.
Raipur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shahin Mia stated that a formal robbery case has been filed by the victim, and legal proceedings are underway.
