Hamas's armed wing announced it will hand over the body of a deceased hostage recovered in Gaza on Monday evening (9 p.m. local time).
The issue of recovering deceased hostages has been a persistent obstacle to U.S. President Donald Trump's Gaza peace plan. Hamas claims the remains of 13 deceased hostages are still in Gaza, citing difficulty in locating them amid the rubble from fighting.
Israel, which claims the militant group knows the location of the bodies, permitted an Egyptian technical team to enter Gaza on Sunday.
The team is collaborating with the Red Cross and utilizing heavy machinery to search for the bodies beyond the Israeli troop pullback line (the so-called "yellow line") established under the Trump plan.
