


One person has died in a clash between two groups in Madhya Pungali village of Faridpur upazila of Pabna over a dispute over an Eidgah ground.
Ghazzali Munshi (50) died on the way from Rajshahi Medical College Hospital to Khwaja Yunus Ali Medical College Hospital in Enayetpur, Sirajganj early on Friday.
The deceased Ghazzali Munshi (50) is the son of the deceased Ramzan Munshi of Madhya Pungali village. He is from the Haji group.
After the clash, both sides filed a case with the police station at night. The police have arrested two people from both sides, Kudrat-e-Khuda and Dhala, in the case.
The clash took place between the Haji group and the Badshah group in Madhya Pungali village of Faridpur upazila on Thursday morning.
Police said that last year, a dispute broke out between the two groups over prayers at the Eidgah ground. Tensions flared up again between the Haji group and the Badsha group on Thursday morning due to that old dispute and they got into a clash.
Twenty people injured in the clash were admitted to the Faridpur Upazila Health Complex. Some of them were admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital in critical condition. As their condition deteriorated, one person named Ghazzali Munshi died on the way to Enayetpur Khwaja Yunus Ali Medical College Hospital in Sirajganj.
On receiving the information, Faridpur police recovered the body of the deceased and sent it to the Pabna Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Faridpur police station OC Shakyul Azam said that two cases were filed by both sides last night in connection with the clash. The police have arrested two people from both sides in the case.
