World Meditation Day was celebrated with due dignity in Jhalakati by the initiative of Quantum Foundation. On the occasion of the day, a special meditation program was organized at the Municipal Mini Park of Jhalakati city from 7 am to 8 am today, Saturday (December 21).
The theme of this year's World Meditation Day was "If the mind is good, everything is good". In this peaceful event, a unique peaceful atmosphere was created throughout the park with the spontaneous participation of people of different ages and professions. Thousands of meditators from all over the world simultaneously participated in meditation through silence and concentration.
In order to increase global awareness of the practice of meditation, the United Nations declared December 21 as 'World Meditation Day' in 2024. Through this declaration, the United Nations mainly wants to remind people of the universal right to mental and physical well-being. In addition, the World Health Organization has recognized meditation as an 'effective method of self-care' based on scientific research and is emphasizing regular meditation practice in stress management.
According to experts, meditation is essentially an exercise of the mind. It is an ancient and tested practice to keep the mind still, calm and stress-free. Regular meditation practice relaxes the nerves, reduces mental stress, increases immunity and significantly reduces the risk of psychosomatic diseases. Meditation also has a positive impact on personal and professional life. Students' attention and confidence increase, and test anxiety decreases. Employees' work efficiency and sense of responsibility increase. Businessmen become calmer and more stable in dealing with crises. In the case of housewives, patience and compassion increase, ensuring a happy environment in the family. As a result, many counselors are currently recommending meditation as an essential practice for family and mental well-being.
Quantum Foundation has been working to popularize the practice of meditation in Bangladesh for more than three decades. Thousands of members and well-wishers of the organization are ensuring their mental and physical well-being through regular meditation practice and are also involved in various social and humanitarian activities.
On the occasion of World Meditation Day, meditation programs are being held simultaneously in Jhalokati as well as in various places in the country including Chittagong, Rajshahi, Barisal, Khulna, Sylhet. The organizers hope that more people will join the practice of meditation on this day and come forward on the path of mental peace and a beautiful life.
